The Dawson Group is looking for a permanent, full-time Business Systems Analyst, reporting to the Director of Information Technology. This role will assist the Dawson Group with a main focus on the Road Maintenance division by analyzing deficiencies and determining the best solutions to correct these deficiencies through the use of technology. Your base location will be Kamloops, BC and will include 25% travel time throughout our great province.


  • Successfully and confidently suggest solutions that align with the organizational needs and goals
  • Working directly with business users as a member of the IT team, drive communication amongst IT and business stakeholders to understand, articulate, and meet the needs of the needs of the organization
  • Understand existing business processes and identify opportunities to improve them through the aid of technology solutions
  • Facilitating process mapping sessions and helping our stakeholders identify opportunities for business process improvement
  • Support change management and training with business users, to understand and respond to how they’ll be impacted by the introduction of new technology
  • Applying problem-solving skills and tools to diagnose and solve business challenges
  • Effectively analyze multiple available solution alternatives, risks, and benefits for a range of potential solutions
  • Implement recommended business process improvement or business solutions in identified systems
  • Administer business software systems to respond to updates or evolving user needs
  • Provide deskside support for basic IT issues with Dawson Road Maintenance staff
  • Prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job


  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computing, Engineering or Business
  • Seven (7) years of IT experience
  • Four (4) years of business analysis and/or project management experience
  • Experience in the construction or road maintenance industries is an asset
  • Thorough understanding of GPS telematics systems, Internet of Things and mobility solutions
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products; advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to learn new business applications quickly and effectively
  • Self-motivated individual who can work well on their own as well as others
  • Innovative or out of the box thinking to promote business growth opportunities
