The Dawson Group is looking for a permanent, full-time Project Manager, reporting to the Manager, Engineering. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing the operational efficiency plan and leading business development for Dawson Road Maintenance to help grow the business. This role requires an experienced manager to meet company objectives and targets. Your base location will be Kamloops, BC and will include approximately 25% travel time throughout our great province.


  • Prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job
  • Maintain, prioritize and implement the operational efficiency plan
  • Create work flows and develop action items related to the operational efficiency plan
  • Coordinate with the other Dawson Group divisions such as the civil, paving, transport and truck operations
  • Lead business development for Dawson Road Maintenance to help this division grow through private and extra work
  • Efficiently plan, coordinate and schedule all equipment between all areas to improve utilization
  • Ability to seek out additional work where utilization of equipment is low
  • Ability to create and track progress against schedules that are developed for implementation and to recognize deviations from the original schedule and take actions to correct if warranted
  • Develop business cases where required to prove that cost efficiency items have merit to proceed to implementation
  • Work on Request for Proposals when new road maintenance contracts come up for renewal


  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Business
  • Five (5) years of construction and/or road maintenance experience
  • A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
  • A personal vehicle available for use as and when required
  • Estimating experience is an asset
  • Experienced scheduling capabilities such as Microsoft Project
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Eagerness to maintain and continue to develop professional and technical knowledge
  • Outstanding time management, superior organization skills, and keen attention to detail
  • Promotes a collaborative team-based approach
  • Self-motivated individual who can work well on their own as well as others
  • Strong sense of integrity and honesty
