Dawson Civil is looking for a full-time Foreman of Underground Utilities, reporting to the Project Superintendent. As Foreman, a day on the job will include supervising, directing, coordinating, and assisting the activities of the crew and equipment related to all earthwork activities. Your base location will be Kamloops, B.C. however this project will be based in the Vernon/Kelowna area and is projected to run for 2-3 years.


  • Prioritize safety of self and others in every aspect of the job
  • Provide management and direction to crews
  • Provide expertise on construction equipment selection, operation, and maintenance
  • Experienced on all types of heavy equipment
  • Attend and participate in all safety meetings and ensure team abides by safety policies on the work site
  • Assist in coordinating and conducting training sessions
  • Review and adhere to project schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met
  • Work with and oversee the performance of all sub-contractors, ensuring that work is completed accurately
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications, and ensure all employees have the information required
  • Recommend ways to improve production, quality and crew performance
  • Ensure construction meets approved design specifications, drawings, and applicable codes


  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role in the civil construction or mining industry is required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of builders levels, pipe lasers, survey layout and construction blueprints to ensure construction is as per project specifications is required
  • Knowledge of the MMCD specifications is an asset
  • Clean Drivers Abstract is required
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and independently
  • Experience with Heavy Job an asset
