The Dawson Group is pleased to announce that Derek Drummond, a long-time transportation professional with extensive private and public experience, will join our team as Dawson Road Maintenance’s Vice President of Operations.

Derek starts work with DRM today. He will be based in Kamloops and will spend considerable time on the ground in our operations in B.C.’s Cariboo and northern highway maintenance service areas.

Derek’s appointment follows significant growth in DRM sparked by our company’s acquisition of two new service areas in 2019. He will work closely with DRM senior management to ensure our crews across all our service areas provide the highest quality highway maintenance for the people of B.C.

Derek has worked in transportation for most of his career, most recently serving as the VP/Regional Business Lead of Transportation for Stantec. Before starting with Stantec in 2014, Derek worked for the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, ending his public service as Deputy Director for B.C.’s South Coast Region. He also worked as MoTI’s District Manager of Transportation in Fort St. John, and before that held the posts of MoTI Operations Manager and CVSE Manager in the North Peace District.

President/CEO Yves Lacasse added the Dawson Group is privileged to find someone with Derek’s depth of talent and experience.

“Our goal at Dawson Road Maintenance is to keep our communities safe and to be a leader in the industry,” Yves said. “Having someone with Derek’s experience, along with his passion for the transportation network will help us fulfil our goals and responsibilities to all the people we serve. I’m thrilled to welcome Derek to the Dawson Group family.”
