This past weekend Dawson Group wrapped up another successful United Way!

This year, after two weeks of volunteering, inter-company events and fundraising, Dawson Group donated $22,219 towards this year’s campaign! This brings our three-year total over the $70,000-mark for donations towards the United Way. We were pleased to see employee participation also increase across our group of companies.

The United Way campaign is important to Dawson Group because of how the campaign allows local donations to stay within our communities. Each donation was attached to a postal code, meaning that the funds go towards supporting local programs and initiatives with the United Way. With our company being spread out across this great province, we thought it was the best way to impact all our communities.

Here are some volunteer and fundraising highlights from the past two weeks:

  • Kelowna International Truck Centres held a Chili Cookoff fundraiser on Thursday, Oct. 6
  • Our Dawson Road Maintenance locations in Service Area 22 and 25 organized a 50/59 draw
  • The Kamloops McGill corporate office held a barbecue and a nine-hole mini golf challenge on Friday, Oct. 7
  • The Kamloops offices of McGill, International Truck Centres, New Gold, Chase West and Knutsford collected winter clothing items for The Tree, a non-profit organization created to help single mothers and their families. Lots of scarfs, toques, snow pants and jackets were donated and dropped off
  • A blood drive also took place in the Interior and Okanagan region of our province. Five members of our company stepped up and donated blood

We would like to thank our sponsors who played a key role in supporting this campaign.

We also want to extend a huge thank you tour employees for making this campaign a success. We couldn’t have done it without any of you!
