Dawson Group’s two-week United Way campaign flew by with a flurry of fundraising and volunteering events, as we did our best to positively impact our local communities.

This year, through a strong fundraising push, we proudly raised $14,616! Great job, everyone for B.C.’s communities! Our four years with the United Way campaign, Dawson Group has raised $82,696!

The United Way campaign has become an annual event across Dawson Group, as it allows for the donations to go right back into the local community. Every dollar donated was attached to the donor’s postal code, ensuring the donation directly impacts the community where the donor lives.

Here are some highlights across the company from this year’s campaign:

  • Dawson Group held their inaugural United Way campaign Garage Sale two weeks ago in Kamloops
  • Employees sold donated items from around their house and raised nearly $700
    • Remaining garage sale items were donated to The Mustard Seed and Flutter Buys Thrift Store for resale
  • Thank you to the team of volunteers from Kamloops and 100 Mile House that helped out at the Tapestry Festival and served meals with PIT Stop! It was our pleasure to prepare and serve meals for members of our community
  • Taylor Funk from our Dawson International Truck Centres location in Williams Lake organized a fundraising BBQ for all DITC and Dawson Road Maintenance employees and their families, which raised $233
  • Dawson Group’s corporate office held a pancake breakfast earlier in the summer which raised nearly $500
  • Dawson Group sponsored a table at the United Way’s Kick-off Breakfast on Sept. 26. Members from each of our companies were in attendance, as Dawson Group was presented with an award for Most Fun Campaign
  • We wrapped up our United Way campaign with a nine-hole mini golf and pizza lunch fundraiser. Brenda Fisher won the tournament with a -15

We would like to thank all of our wonderful sponsors who supported our campaign by donating prizes that were raffled off to participating fundraisers. Thank you to Cap-It Kamloops, Telus, Procede and Dawson Group.

Thank you for everyone who got involved and supported this campaign. We can’t wait to see how our donations make a positive impact in each of our communities and we are already looking forward to next year’s campaign and a chance to surpass the $100,000 donation mark!
